ART TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Fine Arts Department Chair/Art and Photo Teacher
Rio Norte Junior High School, Valencia, CA 91354 • 2003 to Present

Accomplishments:
Created electives program for a brand new Junior High School. Built Fine Arts Department and Yearbook Program from the ground floor. Received City of Santa Clarita Grant and Site Council Grant to expand the art department. Expansion includes ceramics, glass and a brand new black and white and digital photography program. Actively participate in Santa Clarita Street Art Festival. Pioneered integration of junior high art students into the annual Barnes and Noble Student Art Show. 


Fine Arts Department Chair/Art Teacher
Valencia High School, Valencia, CA  91355 • 1996 to 2003

Taught Ceramics, Graphic Design and Yearbook, Beginning and Advanced 2-D Design, Drawing, Typography, Photography, and 3-D Art.

Accomplishments: Designed, wrote curriculum, and received City of Santa Clarita Grant for 2d and 3d Fine Arts program. Created career path in Studio Art. Represented Valencia High School and motivated students to participate in art in the community including Bella Via and Barnes and Noble art displays. Initiated advanced technology and graphic design application software (Quark Xpress, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Pagemaker) for Graphic Design Program.  Created and wrote curriculum for new Graphic Design Career Path.  Designed and programmed art department web page using DreamWeaver. Promoted student work using PowerPoint and Digital Camera. Expanded School-to-Career program through networking with companies in Santa Clarita, motivating students to participate, and developing new programs and assessment tools.  Coordinated alliance between Hart District and the Valencia Industrial Association.

Accomplishments: Created innovative learning environment which increased student enrollment for summer session.  Developed graphic design curriculum to increase art elective options for registration guide.
