Expressive landscape created with many layers, some of which were subtracted by scraping and sanding.
This painting was created shortly after my mother passed away in 2007.
My Master of Arts exhibit was an installation of devastated rocks shown on pristine white bases.
I captured cyclists juxtaposed with what I consider the mundane. There is always at least one other figure in the composition.
I have been an artist since the age of 8 and an art educator for over 22 years. My current series of paintings connect my passion for both painting and motion.

"Art does not reproduce what we see; rather, it makes us see" - Paul Klee
Just over 15 years ago, I first had thoughts of paintings showing movement and motion. Historically, artists I studied depicted movement over time by painting what the viewer sees as a frozen moment of the movement. I see and view my life as motion and choose to seduce viewers to see my vision of motion. This series has evolved from my first painting of a cyclist which is shown below.
